About the role

We have a unique and exciting new opening within our IT team at Joules for an Infrastructure Solutions Architect who will be responsible for the strategy, development and ongoing maintenance / support of Joules’ Infrastructure architecture.

The candidate must provide technical expertise and enterprise architectural solutions in infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas. This role extends across Joules’ technical architecture landscape for all offices worldwide and encompasses the infrastructure to provide the services to the business now and in the future; this will incorporate growth plans as well as increasing the maturity level of the business to keep in line with evolving requirements to meet legislative and business related drivers.


  • Set and manage stakeholders’ expectations; recommend solutions; manage vendor relationships; mediate between infrastructure and development groups; provide training on specific tools.
  • Establish and vet key vendor relationship; assess emerging technologies; give advice on investments regarding price versus performance.
  • Define/document target architecture; anticipate growth; ensure scalability; stay abreast of industry trends and assess new products; use KPIs and effectiveness metrics to improve processes; bridge different areas of the infrastructure.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and/or audits; define and maintain documentation of infrastructure and technology standards, processes and policies related to core infrastructure.
  • Provide technical infrastructure support, on call support, and support for escalated troubled tickets.
  • Adherence to legislation, local policy and compliance requirements
  • Drives short & long term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio
  • Owns proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy.
  • Define infrastructure strategy and implementation plans for the group
  • Produce business cases (cost/benefits etc) for upgrades to infrastructure 
  • Input and influencing the IT Strategy.   
  • Leading, driving best practice, a coaching and role modelling across the IT team.



  • Ability to effectively communicate, cooperate and collaborate; successful track record of effective vendor management.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and vendor landscape; ability to balance costs against benefits.

  • Understanding of business drivers and all stakeholders’ requirements; understanding of documentation; experience in capacity and performance management.

  • Experience in infrastructure related role; proven success on projects to transform technology solutions.

  • Hands-on experience and expertise with Windows concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network, data centre, and application software, Linux is a plus. Strong working knowledge of VMware or other virtual software.
