About the role

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Woven Textiles Designer (Maternity Cover) to join our celebrated Print Design team at Joules here at our Head Office in beautiful Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

The successful candidate will be involved in mood at the start of a season, through to sending out the final collection to suppliers. The candidate, with the help of an assistant, will be designing all check and striped textiles across all genders; ladies, accessories, mens and kids. The role is highly creative and works closely with the rest of the printed textile team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the creative process for the woven textiles department and presenting new ideas to the team

  • Creating and developing designs to sit alongside the printed clothing and accessories ranges

  • Being responsible for and managing an assistant woven designer

  • Working with the creative team to develop mood and colour at the beginning of each season

  • Keeping up to date on competitor analysis

  • Identifying key trends across all genders and applying them to designs to be brand appropriate

  • Preparing designs ready to send out to suppliers

    The successful candidate will have:

  • Good Fabric knowledge, ideally in woven textile design with an understanding of yarn weights and fabric structures

  • A good eye for detail, presentation and colour

  • Proficiency in a weave design software, (Texcheck, Pointcarre, Easy Weave or an alternative weave package) along with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills

  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • A basic understanding of print processes

Ideally you will have 4 years experience in industry and be a graduate with a minimum of a 2:1 in a relevant subject or equivalent experience working for a brand and you will be proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator.
